Series 1 Episode 2 Zombiegeddon - Transit Camp

Synopsis

Our heroes still fleeing London and the horror they left behind come across a Government transit camp set up to help evacuated citizens. Safe at last......

The Zombies
We diced for number of zombies and type. The game used the following zombie types:

Leader - played by lady zombies
Rager - played by West Wind rager virus zombies
Tank - played Foundry Mummy's
Co stars - West Wind and Wargames Factory zombies

The stats used were straight from the 7ombie rules with no amendments.

Location
  
The episode takes place on a 3’ by 5’ table (or kitchen table). There is a road running from one short edge to another. At one short edge is a transit camp made from a rectangle of shipping containers with 2 entrances. 1 entrance on to the road and 1 to the side guarded by a detached dug out. Inside the camp are tents and ladders to access the tops of the containers. Around the camp are supply dumps and some more tents.

Set Up  
The survivors start at the opposite short edge to the camp and deploy 6" from the van.

Dice for the Zombies as per the 7ombie TV rules p37. Then roll d3 for which turn they appear.

 And …Action - Initiative is determined normal in all turns

End Credits

The episode will end if all of one side’s models are removed from play or the van is refuelled and the survivors drive off the opposite road exit.

 The Game
The van stuttered to a stop in sight of the camp. If they were to continue they needed more fuel and somebody had eaten all the food. Frost, C. Lee and Neil looked innocent.

The sight looked empty and quiet, too quiet.

True to all good horrors our heroic survivors split up. Harry Hair and Eastwood volunteered to guard the van. Sergeant Simon Angel and his sidekick PC Danny Frost with Detective Horatio headed for the fuel dump to find some diesel for the van. Everyone else went to see what they'd find inside the camp.


We diced for the zombies and the turn they'd appear on and placed them on the table with a dice noting which turn they'd activate on.

Overview of the board. Only 2 groups of zombies appeared turn 1. A group by the tents on the right, plus a group with a Leader just beyond the fuel dump on the right.

PC Frost and Detective Horatio try to clear a path to the fuel. The group of 4 zombies next to the dice showing 3 are making are not in this position yet but will appear on turn 3. Just behind Danny and Horatio on the road is Simon Angel ready to 'rock and roll'.

At the top of the picture Madge and  C Lee finish checking the crates for anything useful, ignoring the 5 zombies due to appear on turn 3 they can see a group just coming round the corner of the camp. Unaware of how close the zombies are Annie Cartwright leads the others in to the camp with Ken the Security R us chap bringing up the rear.

Ragers sprint towards Danny and Horatio. Simon had downed 1 zombie and tries to keep up with Danny and Horatio.


The pace of the game was quick which meant in the excitement not many photos were taken.

In short Simon, Danny and Horatio hold off the zombies but can't make it to the fuel. Annie leads the others inside the camp while C Lee and Madge distract the zombies attracted by the smell of fresh flesh.

Inside the camp Annie and co split up into searchers and defenders. The defenders barricade the off road entrance and hold off the zombies getting them in a cross fire with Madge and C Lee. In the mean time Annie searches the containers and finds a traumatised survivor, then another, and then a starving dog! The new additions to the group keep mumbling something about moaning walls.

The episode ends as Annie flings open another container to be confronted with jammed in zombies struggling to turn round and get out.

Zombies win on points.

Review
We both enjoyed the game, but perhaps they're were too many zombies. Team Fuzz splitting up meant they didn't get superiority anywhere on the table stopping them from completing their objective e.g. getting more fuel and leaving the table. If there had been more time the transit camp would have become more of a fortress and the zombies would be whittled down. However the volume of gun fire required would have attracted more. I feel a siege coming on!
